Physics Olympiads
IH’s IGEPO is our project for students who want to explore the extraordinary world of physics through olympiad-style problem solving.
Insight Hunters is a tutoring team founded by Oliwier Urbański and Maksymilian Strzelecki specializing in physics and mathematics. IGEPO aims at promoting physics through preparation for physics olympiads, roughly matching the style of IPhO, EuPhO, the Polish National Physics Olympiad and similar national editions in other countries.
The format of the classes is inspired by the mathematics olympiad seminar that Oliwier had the pleasure of attending, led by Dr. Bartłomiej Bzdęga.
Each meeting begins with an approximately 40-minute lecture introducing the session topic. Beyond standard olympiad material, it covers clever problem-solving techniques and practical tips.
Participants work through olympiad-style problems. Some come from past national or international olympiads, others from lesser-known collections, and some are original problems created by us.
The final part is devoted to presenting participants’ own solutions, discussing correctness, and exploring alternative approaches.
Meetings are held online roughly 2-3 times a month and announced via email to registered students. Participation is free, but registration is required by writing to insighthunters.company@gmail.com.
A short motivation letter is required and may be used for selection if the number of applicants is too high.
The classes are designed to be rewarding for participants with a wide range of experience levels. Problem sets progress from beginner-friendly tasks to truly formidable challenges.
First-year high school students are encouraged to join, and exceptionally determined primary school students are welcome as well.
Since the sessions are conducted online, they focus primarily on theoretical problems. However, experimental problems are also an important part of olympiads, so some time will be devoted to the art of designing and carrying out experiments in the context of physics olympiads.
So far, only the Polish version of the promoting video exists, but with translation it captures the essential information well.
